Meet The Team
Cassandra Sternar (B.HSc. MPodPrac. MAPodA)
Cassandra is the founder and principal podiatrist at Victorian Foot Clinic.
Cassandra graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Podiatric Practice from La Trobe University in 2014. She completed her clinical training at the Alfred Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and IPC Health Community Health Centre, allowing her to work with a diverse range of patients in both the acute and sub acute health care settings. Cassandra's clinical placements allowed her to develop podiatric skills in the areas of diabetic foot care, wound care, paediatrics, charcot management, post amputation management, surgery, local anaesthesia, dermatology, podiatric pharmacology and microbiology, musculoskeletal injuries, imaging, orthotic therapy and footwear prescription.
Cassandra currently works in her private practice part time, and also continues to work in the public health care system. She facilitates a High Risk Foot Clinic at a Melbourne based community health centre, where she provides wound care, post amputation and Charcot management as part of a multidisciplinary team. She also delivers paediatric care in the sub acute setting and is involved in the development and implementation of quality projects and initiatives to help improve the delivery of care to her patients.
In 2018, Cassandra undertook a post graduate placement at Western Health to further develop her podiatry skills in the acute setting. She was then successful at obtaining a seconded position as a podiatrist for the Diabetes Foot Service. Having thoroughly enjoyed working with patients in an inpatient setting; Cassandra now also offers podiatric care at Melbourne Private Hospital. Cassandra also receives referrals from the Royal Melbourne Hospital Diabetes Foot Unit to provide follow up podiatry care upon discharge from this clinic.
Cassandra regularly undertakes clinical supervision of podiatry students during their public health placements, and enjoys teaching. She delivers community education sessions for those recently diagnosed with diabetes, so that they are aware of the implications that diabetes can have on foot health. Cassandra sees these group sessions as an opportunity to provide education on how to prevent foot complications associated with diabetes, neuropathy or poor circulation through healthy foot habits and regular screening.
Cassandra has a special interest in ingrown toenail surgery, diabetic wound care, Foot Mobilisation Therapy and Neurovascular assessments; and is certified in Dry Needling.
Dr. Jayden Fennell B.Hsc. BAppSc. (Chiropractic)
Dr. Jayden graduated from RMIT University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science in Chiropractic. Dr. Jayden also obtained his Certificate IV in Massage Therapy at the Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy in 2017.
Dr. Jayden completed his clinical training across a diverse range of private practices and community clinics, located at Mt. Eliza, Maribrynong, University Hill student clinic and Norlane Community Clinic. Dr. Jayden completed his final year internship and mentoring with a leading Australian Chiropractor and the founder of Visceral Biomechanics.
Dr. Jayden has a special interest in chronic pain, migraines, neurological conditions and sporting injuries. He uses a range of Chiropractic techniques such as Diversified, Gonstead and Activator. He also uses massage and other soft tissue therapy techniques in his practice.
Dr. Jayden is a member of the Australian Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Jayden is currently taking appointments for Monday mornings and will look to expand these hours in 2020. You can also find Dr. Jayden practicing at Strive for Health Clinic in Keilor East.
In his spare time, Dr. Jayden enjoys basketball, rowing, is an avid Collingwood supporter and a talented guitarist/songwriter.
Jaymie Hughan (B.Hsc. MPodPrac. MAPodA)
Jaymie graduated from LaTrobe University with a Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Podiatric Practice in 2015.
She began her career working in Private Practice in Melbourne’s Northern suburbs. This involved working with a diverse clientele in the areas of paediatrics, sports, high risk foot care and aged care.
Jaymie has a special interest in Community Health in regional areas; and so in 2016 moved to Western Victoria to work in a regional Hospital and Community clinic. This allowed her to experience working with a variety of foot concerns and people of all ages- from newborns to centenarians. Jaymie returned to Melbourne in 2018 and provided her podiatry services in Aged Care facilities.
Jaymie currently works for Monash Health as an acute and complex care Podiatrist. This involves working closely with Vascular Surgeons and Endocrinologists to holistically treat and manage foot wounds.
Jaymie has a special interest in Public Health and high risk feet, however enjoys all aspects of Podiatry.
Jaymie currently assists Cassandra on a as-needs basis and will look to expand her hours at Victorian Foot Clinic in 2020.
